Autism is a complex neurodevelopmental disorder and an early diagnosis is essential to formulate the line of treatment. As there are recent advances in clinical research in the fields of autism now it is possible to diagnose autism spectrum disorders (ASD) as early as second year of life.
As the diagnostic process is often complex familiarity with the most recent findings in clinical assessment instruments, early symptoms, and developmental trajectories of young children with autism is essential.
We at Dr.Joshi's Center for Autism have the facility at our Mulund (W) unit for Psychological and Clinical assessment for Autism spectrum Disorder. The assessment is carried out by our senior Clinical Psychologist, the session lasts for 1-2 hours and the presence of child is mandatory. Some of the common tests that are run are ISAA (Indian scale for Autism assessment), CARS (Childhood Autism Rating Scale), DSM 5 Checklist and others as per the discretion of the expert. The reports are given after 7-14 days' time which is needed to compile the same.
